Another nine sporting identities took the icy plunge ahead of the blockbuster clash with AFL icon Neale Daniher, the driving force behind in the initiative, proudly watching on.

The day holds extra significance for Collingwood coach Craig McRae, who revealed pre-game that his brother-in-law Patty was diagnosed with the debilitating illness 12 months ago.

“Unfortunately, this time last year my brother-in-law, my wife’s brother got diagnosed with MND. It’s really close to home for us,” he told Channel 7.

After the Magpies returned to the room following the big victory, Moore held up the team song to bring Patty into the circle.

“We’re missing someone … Pat, get in here,” Moore can be heard saying in the rooms.

Patty, who was positioned between Moore and Jeremy Howe, then leads a stirring rendition of the song.

Howe said Patty inspired the players ahead of the blockbuster clash.

“He came in and shared his story with us yesterday,” Howe told Triple M after the match.

“He’s an amazing man, that’s the first time I’ve ever met him but you get instantly drawn to him and his outlook on life is really good.

“I think everyone is inspired by Neale so a lot of people taking a positive outlook on it. He’s got two beautiful kids as well and he’s a good man and we thought we’d get him in for the song.”

Collingwood produced one of their best performances of the year to run out comfortable victors and surge to sixth on the ladder.

The Magpies next play North Melbourne on Sunday, but could be without Nick Daicos after he was subbed off with a corked calf.
