While out on bail in BB gun shooting case, man charged with stabbing sex worker in Oakland over $60 dispute

OAKLAND — A man has been charged with stabbing a woman after allegedly offering her $60 for sex and trying to take it back, court records show.

The 40-year-old suspect was charged last month with assault with a deadly weapon. The crime occurred in April, while he was out on $30,000 bail in a prior case involving allegations he shot a man with a BB gun, splitting the victim’s front tooth in half, according to police and court records.

The woman was stabbed in the abdomen on International Boulevard in Oakland on April 9, and required surgery, police say. She later told authorities that the suspect paid her $60 to have sex but they got into an argument after he was unable to perform.

Roughly two weeks earlier, the man had posted $30,000 bail to secure his release from Santa Rita Jail on charges of assault with a BB gun. In that incident, police say he got into an argument with a man over the victim’s use of a pinch collar for his dog, retrieved a BB gun from his car, and shot the victim multiple times, causing several welts on his body and a broken tooth. The BB gun shooting occurred at Monarch Bay Golf Course in San Leandro, according to court records.

As a result, his bail was revoked and a no-bail arrest warrant was issued, records show.
