12-year-old California boy arrested in investigation, is suspected of threatening students – The Mercury News

A 12-year-old boy was arrested at his home in Moreno Valley on Wednesday on suspicion of making threats against students that were investigated in Jurupa Valley, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

The agency in a news release said the investigation started Sept. 12 when a school resource deputy at a school in the 5000 block of 42nd Street, Jurupa Valley, received a report of criminal threats made by a 12-year-old boy toward some students.

The investigation led to the suspect — whose identity was not released — and his residence was searched.

“Evidence was collected, but no firearms or dangerous weapons were located,” said a sheriff’s news release. The boy was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of criminal threats.

This was at least the fourth such arrest involving threats in Riverside County schools since Sept. 11 — including one Monday in which a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats towards students at a middle school in the Jurupa Unified School District.
