28 Days Later has disappeared from streaming but here’s where to watch it | Films | Entertainment

As Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later wraps with Cillian Murphy returning in the starring role, fans of the zombie horror movies are wondering where you can watch the original.

Apparently, 2002’s 28 Days Later used to be available to watch on Disney+ alongside its sequel 28 Weeks Later, which remains on the streaming service.

However, the first film has since disappeared and is currently unavailable to watch legally online.

According to JoBlo, Disney has lost the rights to the indie movie which are now with Sony as part of their package of acquiring the rights for 28 Years Later and its upcoming two sequels.

No doubt Sony will release 28 Day Later on streaming in the future but it will probably look pretty different if restored in 4K.

The reason being that 28 Days Later was one of the first movies to be shot digitally so it has a standard definition resolution of 720×576, which is why the DVD and Blu-ray look pretty much the same.

Nevertheless, the outlet speculates that Boyle will work with Sony on a new streaming release. Whatever the case, we’d be very surprised if there wasn’t one before 28 Years Later hits cinemas next summer.

In the meantime you can watch 28 Days Later at home as it’s available on DVD for £9.99 and other physical formats on Amazon, including Blu-ray and even VHS.
