FILE – Multiple police chases disrupted Bay Area roads Thursday morning.
RichLegg/Getty ImagesThree separate car chases, in San Francisco, Lafayette and Oakland, caused closures and disrupted traffic on Bay Area roads and freeways early Thursday, officials said. The chases came after a police pursuit shut down multiple roads in Oakland on Wednesday afternoon.
Law enforcement were still gathering details on Thursday morning’s pursuits at 8 a.m., but some details were available.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed police in San Francisco chased after a car early Thursday. KTVU-TV, which was the first to report on the three chases, said the first pursuit began at 2 a.m., continued onto the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge at speeds up to 100 mph, and a police officer was reportedly dragged by a car. The San Francisco Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The second chase started in Lafayette and ended in Oakland, beginning around 4:30 a.m. “We were called to assist and shut down State Route 24 off ramp to Telegraph Ave going westbound,” CHP Officer Adib Zeid told SFGATE.

In the third police pursuit, CHP got behind a driver in a stolen vehicle with multiple occupants in West Oakland at about 3 a.m., Zeid said.
The chase crossed into East Oakland. “At least one of the CHP vehicles was struck by the vehicle,” Zeid said. “Multiple parked cars were struck — nobody was in those parked cars.” No injuries were reported and one arrest was made, he said.
