Perhaps none bore the brunt of the social media firestorm harder than Kyle Brandt from NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” forcing the analyst to put his tail between his legs all of three days after he ranted about the Jags and the 49ers.

On Friday, Brandt posted the clip from the show on X, formerly known as Twitter, asking, “How the hell are the 6-2 Jaguars home underdogs to the 49ers?” In the clip, Brandt dismissed the segment’s initial question asking about the Niners and instead focused his attention on the Jags.

“I don’t really care about San Francisco right now,” Brandt said on Friday. “I care about the teams that win. Jacksonville wins.”

He continued: “I don’t know why the hell Vegas has the 49ers favored. Listen, you guys work in different ways and are usually right. I would never go with San Francisco in this. Jacksonville has all the momentum and I think they’ll win the game.”

Brandt has been poking at the 49ers for a few weeks since the team lost three games in a row, which included a weird segment where he called 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy “Bot Purdy” and said the “robot” needed a reboot while expressing pride in the “humans” for “winning the war against the machines.”

Friday’s take, though, was perhaps his boldest. But it quickly became his coldest on Sunday, and 49ers fans on social media were quick to remind Brandt of what he said, with hundreds of replies and quotes dunking on his post. Back on the air on Monday’s show, Brandt said it was a “long Sunday on social media for me, and not a good one.” Brandt then proceeded to try and jokingly rewrite what he had said.

“You guys don’t understand, I was marveling that they were only favored by 3.5,” Brandt said on Monday. “You guys completely misunderstood. They won by 31 points.”

Brandt then gave a rundown of some of what people have said in his mentions: “Where you at, fam?” “Keep that same energy,” “This aged well” and more. His other hosts on the show pointed out that the 49ers fanbase is, uh, rather large and was never going to let him forget easily. Brandt also took some time to admit what he may not have factored in.

“Maybe I underestimated Trent Williams returning. Maybe I underestimated Deebo returning,” Brandt said before whispering, “Maybe I overestimated the Jaguars, whose defense isn’t that good.”

Brandt concluded by saying he felt the 49ers were “hashtag back” and said this was “the September Niners, not the October Niners.”

“I hope they’re here to stay, because they’re terrifying,” Brandt said. “Jaguars, wish you could’ve picked me up a little bit more. But, Niners, I was wrong, my bad.”

Surely, the internet will forget about his take in the first place and never remind him again.
