4. Longlegs

One of the most talked-about movies of 2024, this horror thriller written and directed by Osgood Perkins – son of Anthony Perkins (who played Norman Bates in Psycho) – offers a genuinely creepy ride as a young FBI agent (Maika Monroe, It Follows) with unusual instincts strives to solve a series of occult clues to end a killing spree.

Nicolas Cage has outdone himself, making quite an impression as the titular serial killer, who is thought to be linked to a series of mass murders in which he appears to have made family members butcher each other without actually entering their homes.

The film’s screenwriting does not match Cage’s memorable performance, but for horror fans looking for an atmospheric, well-paced chiller, Longlegs should do the job.
