F1 2023: Verstappen cruises to United States GP Sprint win ahead of Hamilton, Leclerc

For the 19th round of the 2023 season, Formula One heads to the 5.513 km long Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas for the United States Grand Prix, yet another Sprint weekend. 3x World Champion Max Verstappen converted his pole position into a comfortable Sprint victory in Austin as the Dutch driver took the chequered flag ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in second and third respectively.
Verstappen and Leclerc came close at the start as the former defended his position into Turn 1. But, once he did, he pulled away from his rivals to take his third Sprint victory of the season. Hamilton overtook Leclerc on the exit of Turn 1 at the start, and while he stayed within DRS range of Verstappen early on, he had to settle for second, with Leclerc holding off Lando Norris at the end to take the final spot in the top three.
Except Carlos Sainz, all drivers had chose to start the race on Medium compound. The Ferrari driver ended up making contact with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri at the start, while the Spaniard managed to overtake Norris. George Russell made up for his three-place grid drop to go from 11th to eighth right behind Perez in seventh.
