Now that George Santos has been kicked out of Congress and faces a long list of criminal charges, we haven’t heard much from him lately. Which really is too bad since he sure knew how to keep politics entertaining. Don’t you worry, though, he’s not going away quietly. On Wednesday at a little after midnight, he posted a nearly two-minute-long video on Twitter claiming that someone broke into his car and that it was all New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ fault.
“Look at that, Mayor Adams. This is the city you’re running. You were a cop, right? You piece of shit. Is that what you do? Is that how you’re keeping the city safe? You fucking animal,” he said before claiming it’s a “brand new car. Like literally. A brand fucking new car.” He also claimed the city takes taxpayer money to “shove it in the asses of these migrants” and called on Adams to resign.
While it’s understandable that someone whose car has been broken into would be upset about it, that may not be the reason Santos’ window was broken. Forbes reports that Fabien Levy, Adams’ Deputy Mayor for Communications, responded, saying, “99 percent sure you broke into the car yourself…” before pointing out that the supposed “brand fucking new car” is actually a 2018 model.
George Santos? Lying? That’s a little hard to believe. The only thing more impeccable than his record of telling the truth is the tailoring of his suit jackets.
The thing is, though, there’s absolutely no reason to make something up if you want to criticize Mayor Adams. Just recently, it came out that New York City spent $155 million on police overtime in 2023, a 39-fold increase over what it spent in 2022 while only reducing subway crimes by two percent. They did give out a lot more tickets for fare evasion, though. Meanwhile, he’s slashing funding for schools, food assistance programs and libraries. Those are things that are actually happening and easily criticized. Maybe start there?
