Founded in 2015 in Los Angeles by Alex James and Vlad Elkin, the streetwear fashion brand Pleasures is known for its artsy and grunge/rock style, mainly inspired by 90’s subcultures. After releasing a hat that read “RIP Morrissey” and a T-shirt featuring Kurt Cobain’s suicide note, the brand began drawing attention with suggestive campaigns. Notably the one launched in 2021 with a series of open lips on all the billboards in Los Angeles.
The brand has collaborated with music artists, like the British rock band New Order in 2021, American rock band Weezer, and another British rock band Blur in early 2023. It also teamed up with Dr Martens in 2022. Today, Pleasures is available at Dover Street Market, LA multi-brand store La Bodega and Nordstrom department stores.
On January 16, Pleasures launched a first collaboration with Montreal-based label Moose Knuckles, one of the world’s leading producers of luxury outerwear, sportswear and accessories which was founded by Noah Stern and Ayal Twik. The duo’s family heritage traces back 100 years in the tailored and parka manufacturing business. Today led by former Coach/Tapestry CEO Victor Luis, Moose Knuckles is distributed in 35 stores worldwide with more than 400 wholesale partners.
“Being able to work with some of the best outerwear functionality and quality in the world was one of the main reasons we wanted to collaborate with Moose Knuckles,” said Alex James, co-founder of Pleasures. “Not to mention, they let us go crazy in upstate NY on a really sick campaign of my dreams.”
Shot by photographer Adam Powell, the campaign, which features a picturesque, bucolic upstate New York setting and features nods to modern horror films, celebrates the creative alignment between the two brands.
The apparel line includes a black quilted puffer, embroidered with a white contrast skeleton, as well as a quilted cropped puffer adorned with reflective Pleasures and Moose Knuckles logos. Two cozy hoodies, made from premium 100% cotton are offered in two designs: one with skeletons and the other with a romanesque statue and flowers. Logo sweatpants and statue/floral graphic tees, as well as a soft knit balaclava, beanie and supple skeleton-embossed leather gloves, complete the collection.
The line has been launched via a multi-faceted global roll-out including an invite-only kick-off event at Moose Knuckles’ new showroom at Milan Fashion Week. Intimate activations throughout the U.S. and a targeted social and press unveiling of the collection will follow, heightening excitement and engagement.
The collection will be available on the Moose Knuckles and Pleasures websites and will also be carried at various distributors including Saks Fifth Avenue, BSTN, Holt, Renfrew, Flannels and more.
