Ayodhya streets ‘will no longer hear the sounds of gunshots, but the chants of Ram’, says Adityanath

Ayodhya: Ayodhya’s streets “will no longer hear the sounds of gunshots, but the chants of Ram,” Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said as the Ram Lalla was consecrated Monday.

“India was waiting for this day,” he added, addressing the thousands of invitees who had gathered to witness the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.

The temple had been built exactly where it was resolved to be built, he said.

“Shri Ram Janmabhoomi will probably be the first such unique case in the world, in which the majority community of a nation fought for so many years, and at so many levels, for the construction of a temple in their own nation, at the birthplace of their idol,” he said.

“Today, the soul is happy with the fact that the temple has been built exactly where it was resolved to be built. Every section of society was waiting for this moment,” the CM added.

“PM Modi fulfilled a 500-year quest for Ram Mandir,” he said.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister started his speech with a chant of “Jai Sita Ram”, and said Ram Lalla was sitting at this temple after a “long wait of 500 years”.

“It seems we have entered Treta yug,” he added, referring to the time when three avatars of Lord Vishnu — Vamana, Parashurama and Ram, the fifth, sixth and seventh incarnations, respectively — are believed to have appeared.

Talking about those who lost their lives during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, Yogi said, “I pay them a lot of respect.”

The CM also sought to congratulate the invitees present on the temple premises, saying everyone is desperately waiting to visit Ayodhya.

“Hearty congratulations to all of you who are seated here at the grand, divine abode of Lord Ram Lalla. My heart is emotional. I am sure you all must be feeling the same,” he said

“There are some feelings in my heart that I cannot find words to express. Everyone is emotional and happy.”

On this “historic occasion”, he added, “every city and village in India is an Ayodhya Dham”.

“Today, Ram is in everyone’s mind. Every eye is wet with tears of joy and satisfaction. Every tongue is chanting the name of Ram. Ram is present in every pore,” he added.

Referring to the young generation, he said they were “fortunate to witness this historic movement”.

Talking about Ayodhya, Chief Minister Yogi said it was once unimaginable to think that Ayodhya will have an airport, four-lane roads, and a motorboat running through Sarayu river

“The government has put in thousands of crores for the development of Ayodhya,” he said. “This is the result of the policy, ideas of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
