New Delhi: Former Chennai Super Kings batter and current batting coach Michael Hussey sarcastically took a dig at ex-Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, stating the defending champions have no captain to fear in the ongoing Indian Premier League. While CSK are being led by new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mumbai Indians too have a new leader in Hardik Pandya, who replaced Rohit before the start of the season. Mumbai Indians are yet to win a game in three outings so far in this edition.

The incident took place during the CSK innings when Hussey held the mic for a groundside interview for the broadcasters. The Australian was asked, “Which captain does the CSK management fear?” Hussey, who played for CSK and Mumbai Indians in IPL, was apt in his reply.

“To be honest, this year, no one. There is only one captain who has beaten us in finals, and he is no longer captain. You know who I’m talking about (laughs),” said Hussey, who played in IPL from 2008 to 2015.

Notably, CSK have lost three finals to Mumbai Indians (in 2013, 2015, 2019). In all three summit clashes Dhoni led CSK while Rohit was Mumbai Indians captain. Incidentally, Rohit and Dhoni are the only IPL captains to have won the IPL five times in history of the tournament.

As far as IPL 2024 is concerned, Mumbai Indians, under new captain Hardik Pandya are yet to win a game in their three matches. Mumbai Indians lost to Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, CSK under Ruturaj Gaikwad started strongly with a 100 per cent win record in the first two games before succumbing in front of Delhi Capitals in their third.
