Andreas Christensen has made it clear he is determined to stay at Barcelona next season amid speculation he could be offloaded.
Barcelona are expected to wave goodbye to several players in the summer and Christensen’s name has cropped up in the rumor mill.
The Dane has been asked about the speculation ahead of El Clasico and played down talk he could be on the move.
“I have no doubt that I will be here next season. I still have two years left on my contract and I am happy,” he told TV3.
Christensen also spoke about his move into midfield and how he’s been faring in a new position for Xavi’s side.
“The adaptation process has been quick. I’m enjoying it. Obviously, there are still many aspects of this position that I still have to learn and improve,” he added.
“It hasn’t been difficult at all because I’m a defender and the role is basically defensive, with the aim of giving some balance and avoiding the counter-attacks of the rivals.
“But, obviously, I see myself as a defender. If I manage to improve these things, I may change my mind, but right now I see myself more playing central defense.”
The Denmark international has been struggling with an Achilles injury in recent weeks but is expected to start on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
