Sanjiv Goenka and KL Rahul have been making the headlines for a few days after the former lashed out publicly following their humiliating loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka stood up to applaud KL Rahul’s spectacular juggling catch to dismiss Shai Hope during their much-important IPL 2024 clash against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Both Rahul and Goenka have been making the headlines for the past few days for all the wrong reasons after the latter lashed out at his captain at the pitchside, the video of which went viral on social media. Goenka, who also owns majority stakes at ISL club Mohun Bagan, received severe backlash on social media and also from the former players while Rahul gained support.
However, things turned good when pictures of Rahul hugging Goenka at the latter’s residence during a dinner invitation came out. Meanwhile, Rahul’s catch came in the ninth over of the Delhi Capitals innings. Reacting to a flatter delivery from Ravi Bishnoi, Hope gave himself room and slapped the cherry straight to cover. With the ball coming in at chest height, Rahul had to take it in an awkward position and the ball popped out, lobbed to his right and he moved quickly, dived and took it with both hands.

The camera immediately panned to Goenka at the VIP stands as he was seen standing and applauding for Rahul’s brilliant effort. The catch actually gave LSG the much-needed breakthrough as it brought an end to a 92-run stand for the second wicket between Hope (38) and Avishek Porel (58).
Earlier, Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl against Delhi Capitals in their must-win IPL 2024 match. Skipper Rishabh Pant is back for Delhi Capitals after serving his one-match suspension alongside Gulbadin Naib. LSG brought in Arshad Khan and Yudhvir Singh.
