As per an ETAuto report, Renault plans to introduce nine new products in India during the next three-four years which would include updates for existing models, along with new electric vehicles (EVs).
Venkat Mamilapalle, CEO and MD, Renault India, revealed that out of the nine new products will be at least two EVs, the first of which is expected to go on sale late next year or by early 2025.
The report says that the first EV will likely be a fully-electric version of the Kwid entry-level hatchback, with an expected pricing of under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, the Kwid EV will take on the likes of Tata Tiago EV, MG Comet EV as well as the Citroen eC3. The Kwid EV is already on sale in Europe in the form of the Dacia Spring Electric.

For the uninitiated, Renault is Dacia’s parent company, and hence there is product sharing involved. That said, the Euro-spec Spring Electric (Kwid EV) comes equipped with a 26.8 kWh battery pack offering a WLTP certified range of 225 km. The battery can be juiced up from 0 to 80% in less than one hour through a 30 kW DC fast charger. The EV’s electric motor produces 44 horsepower and 125 Nm of peak torque. It is yet to be seen if the India-spec Renault Kwid EV will offer the same specs.
