With Memorial Day weekend just ahead, the holiday ushers in the unofficial start of summer in the U.S., and Michael Kors is partnering with Joia Beach club in Miami to celebrate the season with a takeover and pop-up shop.
Club Kors at Joia Beach will be open to the public, by reservation, until Monday.
Miami has its fair share of beach clubs and restaurants overlooking Biscayne Bay, but only a few have perfected the “beach bar” vibe that Joia Beach offers, as it’s the only one nestled within a picturesque enclave on Watson Island, a destination in its own right with views of the Miami skyline. Joia Beach has been ranked as one of the 12 best beach clubs in the Sunshine State.
The brand celebrated the grand opening of Club Kors at Joia Beach on Tuesday with an opening party offering light bites, custom cocktails and dancing to tunes spun by DJ James Kennedy, a former cast member of “Vanderpump Rules.” Other guests included Brazilian American influencer Camila Coelho and Filipino American beauty influencer Bretman Rock.
“I love places that combine the energy and sophistication of a big city with the laid-back glamour of a beach resort, and Miami does that like nowhere else,” Michael Kors told WWD. “Everyone knows I’m a sun-and-sand kind of guy, so a beach club has long been on our radar. When the opportunity arose to partner with Joia Beach for the holiday weekend, it was the perfect chance to bring our vision to life.”
Kors added his design elements to the beach locale with the Michael Kors Empire Diamond monogram in a turquoise blue and white colorway splashed across umbrellas, lounge chairs, beach towels, cornhole stations and a special collaboration with Funboy floats, which are available for purchase at the beach club’s on site pop-up shop.
The beach pop-up shop features selections from the spring 2024 collection for women and men of accessories and ready-to-wear, ranging from the brand’s Colby bag to string bikinis, swim trunks, footwear, sunglasses and watches as well as commemorative illustrated postcards that depict the Joia Beach landscape and Miami’s downtown skyline.
Club Kors at Joia Beach counts as the first beach club collaborative venture for the Michael Kors brand, and the first in a series of Club Kors events planned for destinations around the world.
