After Mauricio Pochettino’s sack, Chelsea close in on Enzo Maresca as new boss
London: Chelsea football club were in search of a new coach after sacking Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season. They might have found the right candidate after several names were shortlisted. Among the names that were shortlisted were Roberto De Zerbi, who will leave Brighton at the end of the season, and Brentford manager Thomas Frank.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have agreed with Leicester City to appoint Marseca as the new coach. Though contracts are yet to be signed, it is understood that he will sign a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.

The Italian has a release clause between 8 and 10 million pounds, which Chelsea has to pay to Leicester City to complete the signature.
After conversations, the Blues have been impressed by Maresca’s depth and breadth of knowledge of their team, as well as his unwavering concentration on the kind of play Chelsea wants to play and his enthusiasm for the position. Maresca has previously worked under Pep Guardiola as his assistant at Manchester City and stuck to similar tactics with the Foxes to win the championship with a whopping 97 points.
