Sharing a post on X, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Assam chief minister, wrote, “All educational institutions in these districts will remain closed on May 29, 2024,” the official post on X read. Sarma has also urged people to stay safe in the post. Accordingly, educational institutes, including government and private schools will remain closed tomorrow.”
One person died and seventeen others were left injured as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in the wake of Cyclone Remal left a trail of destruction in Assam today, officials said. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the deceased was a resident of Morigaon district. Four others were also left injured.
