Hardik Pandya’s last assignment with the Indian team was the ODI World Cup at home last year. However, he was ruled out midway due to an ankle injury.
New Delhi: Hardik Pandya, who did not travel with the first batch of the Indian contingent to the USA for the T20 World Cup 2024, has joined his teammates in New York on Wednesday, the all-rounder confirmed by posting pictures on social media. Following Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2024 campaign, Pandya kept a low-key and flew to London to concentrate on his training. While all his teammates flew to USA from India, Pandya directly linked up with the squad from the United Kingdom.
Notably, this will be India’s first assignment with the national team after he was ruled out of the ODI World Cup 2023 midway due to injury. He slipped on the bowling track against Bangladesh, thus injuring his ankle. As a result, Pandya missed the white-ball series against Australia, South Africa and Afghanistan.
Following the injury, Pandya worked on his fitness and returned to cricket in IPL 2024 as Mumbai Indians captain.
