Despite RCB not making it to the final, Karthik earned a lot of praise for his dynamic style of batsmanship. Days after the IPL got over, Karthik has gone on record to reveal how Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya trolled him during a game this IPL season. Claiming that he loved the banter, Karthik reveals Hardik started to sledge when he hit a string of boundaries.
Dinesh Karthik said on Cricbuzz: “Hardik Pandya sledged me then I played a couple of shots and then he was like ‘looks like he has improved a bit. He was also like even after becoming a commentator, he is working on his game, that was fun”
“Hardik Pandya also sledged me saying ‘Abhi legspinner aaya, iska thank you hi hai Then I had to play a couple of shots and then he was like ‘Theek hai, thoda improve hogaya lag raha hai’. He was also like ‘Commentator banke bhi thoda kaam kar raha hai,” Karthik added.
Karthik also reacted to Simon Doull’s stgartling revelation, stating that Indian fans need to know the difference between people taking it personally and people talking about his cricketing side.
“That’s pretty sad to hear, though…You go to basketball and football games and see pundits speak about the game. I think the Indian fans should learn the difference between people taking it personally and people talking about his cricketing side. Virat appreciates that,” said Karthik.
Karthik amassed 326 runs in 15 matches in IPL 2024 at an average of 36.22 and a strike rate of 187.36. This features a couple of fifties as well.
Dspite having not won the title, RCB had a season to remember. After nine games, they won only one and their hopes of making the playoff was almost over. But then, they stringed six wins on the bounce to make it to the playoff.
