Larry wasted no time in taking to social media to play up his first Gold nomination after three decades on Australian TV.
“I’m so flattered to be nominated to have a hit at a Gold Logie,” he wrote, holding up a placard with a hashtag that was meant to read “Larry’s hit.”
But an unfortunate lack of spacing between the two words had viewers looking at the sign somewhat differently.
“So many amazing people have had a hit and I’m thrilled it’s my turn to have a hit,” Larry added in the caption.
“Congratulations Larry, thank you for always making me laugh,” one fan wrote.
“I definitely read that sign the wrong way,” noted another.
“Let’s get this hashtag trending,” joked a third.
Celebrity friends and followers also dropped into the comments section to wish Larry the best.
“Well done buddy, well deserved,” wrote singer Ronan Keating.
“Love you Laz!” wrote former Seven presenter Sally Obermeder.
Larry has been nominated for his work on The Morning Show and The Chase Australia.
Earlier, he posted an equally cheeky message after the nominees were announced.
“Over 40 years I’ve hosted great shows for you and a fair share of s*** shows for you, and not much in the world of TV rattles me but this nomination has completely bowled me over,” he admitted.
“It feels very surreal to be standing next to the big gold statue with all these true superstars.
“We had a fantastic day together and these guys are all exactly the very real people you want your TV stars to be, they’re all absolutely worthy of your votes and support.
“Here we go xx.”
Larry supporters flocked to wish him well and congratulate him on his long and successful career in Australian TV.
The Morning Show co-host Kylie Gillies said she was already assembling her “campaign manager” outfit.
“Biggest congratulations on the nomination Laz which I know means so much to you,” she wrote.
“Everyone, the voting starts NOW! 😍🙌 #GOGETITLAZ.”
“On ya Laz! 🙌🙌🙌” added Sunrise presenter Matt Shirvington.
Home and Away star Emily Symons wrote that Larry’s nomination was “wonderful news and so well deserved”.
“This makes me so incredibly happy for you, mate,” said former Sunrise star and 2018 Gold Logie winner Grant Denyer.
“An absolutely well-earned nod.
“Now go get it!”
Others to drop supportive comments for Larry included Home and Away stars Lynne McGranger and Sophie Dillman, actress Rebecca Gibney, Dream Home host Dr Chris Brown, SAS Australia star Ant Middleton and singer and The Voice coach Guy Sebastian.
