Aussie pair through to semis
Maximillian Giuliani and Thomas Neill booked their spot in the semis and look on track to make the final of the 200m freestyle.
Giuliani won his heat in a time of 1:46.15 to set the fifth-fastest time.
Neil finished fifth in his blockbuster heat that featured three of the top four times, but did enough to set the ninth-best time with a 1:46.27.
Strauch misses out in breastroke
Jenna Strauch won her heat in the 100m breastroke, but it wasn’t enough to qualify for the next round.
She clocked a time of 1:07.27, which was 22nd best and outside of the top 16 to qualify for the semis.
No joy for Aussie men in the pool
William Petric and Brendon Smith both failed to qualify for the final of the 400m individual medley final.
Petric was 12th best, while Smith was 13th.
It was a similar story in the 100m backstroke Isaac Cooper and Bradley Woodward finishing well down the leaderboard.
Cooper was 21st best and Woodward was 25th.
