Fans of The First Descendant are counting down to the release of the free-to-play game’s next major update. After racking up more than ten million players since launch, First Descendant developer NEXON has announced plans to add new content to the game. This includes a brand new character named Luna, as well as the Ultimate version of Valby. Unfortunately, however, the week 5 update (which will be accompanied by Hotfix 1.05) will launch alongside a period of server downtime on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The First Descendant server maintenance will begin at 8am BST UK time on July 31. The server maintenance is scheduled to last for a whopping five hours, which means it won’t be back online until 1pm BST the same day.
Unlike previous updates, the week 5 download will have a bit more meat on the bone for fans.
The update will add new character Luna to the game, who is described as a “buff-type supporter using her music to grant beneficial effects to allies around her”.
Indeed, the “mad artist” Luna has a synthesiser gun that becomes more powerful when fired in rhythm.
Luna can also increase the power of her allies by dancing to different styles of music, depending what stat you want to increase.
NEXON explains more: “When Luna, an excellent singer began to sing, her listeners felt refreshed and their sweet tooth satisfied. Her voice gave them joy when they were depressed, and her whispering music had a tremendous concentration effect when they wanted to be calm. In Albion, Luna’s music was almost like an indispensable consumer product.”
Ultimate Valby, meanwhile, will feature a brand new look (which you can see below), as well as new Modifications.
“Though the Ultimate Equipment was a weapon of war, Valby felt a new hope: the possibility that she could exist in her past form, while still being one with water,” NEXON explains.
