BART cut off train service to a large portion of its East Bay and South Bay stations on Thursday after what the agency called a computer network issue.
Spokesperson Chris Filippi said trains in both directions on BART’s green and orange lines each were being turned back at the Bay Fair station. That move meant trains were not serving the Hayward, South Hayward, Union City, Fremont, Warm Springs/South Fremont, Milpitas and Berryessa/North San Jose stations.
The orange line originates in Richmond and the green line in Daly City.
The blue line, which also starts in Daly City, was still running through the Bay Fair station and continuing through stations east leading to the Dublin/Pleasanton station.
AC Transit and the Valley Transportation Authority were setting up to offer bus rides to riders looking to travel to or between the affected stations. BART urged riders to consider alternate means of transportation by going to their web site or by using their app.
The agency did not have an estimate for when all the stations between Hayward and Berryessa stations would be open. The Bay Fair station remained open.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
