Lafayette 148, the luxury women’s lifestyle brand, has partnered with The Woolmark Co., the global authority on merino wool, for certification.
The Lafayette 148 Merino collection has undergone and passed the five stages of testing to gain Woolmark certification. Each piece carrying a Woolmark logo has been awarded with a trusted mark of quality. Pure New Wool contains 100 percent new wool, and Wool Rich Blend contains 50 percent or more of new wool.
Merino wool, which comes from merino sheep, offers the world’s finest and softest wool. One hundred percent natural, renewable and biodegradable, Australian merino wool is known for its next-to-skin softness, strength, versatility and technical benefits, which makes it naturally breathable, thermo-regulating (warm and cool), elastic and water-, stain-, wrinkle- and odor-resistant.
According to the brand, Lafayette 148’s Merino collection is featured in luxuriously soft super-fine merino wool in sharp tailoring, reversible outerwear and lofty knitwear. It is a favorite fiber for the house due to its light hand, resilience and natural breathability for seasonless versatility.
“We’ve always sourced our wool from the finest mills in the world, so it’s very exciting to offer even further transparency of its unparalleled quality,” said Emily Smith, creative director of Lafayette 148.
Woolmark, a not-for-profit organization, is supported by more than 60,000 Australian woolgrowers. Established in 1964, the Woolmark logo is one of the world’s most known textile symbols introduced to identify the premium quality and specific attributes of merino wool. Only licensed partners who meet Woolmark’s stringent performance standards are permitted to use the Woolmark logo, certified after completing rigorous independent testing to ensure each garment meets The Woolmark Co.’s technical specifications relate to merino wool content, physical wool properties, color fastness and dimensional stability — providing its purity and confirming it is 100 percent what it claims to be.
