Bihar kicks off school monitoring plan to improve quality of education, mid-day meals, upgrade infra

Patna: The Bihar government has started a comprehensive monitoring plan to ensure all government schools are running according to prescribed standards.

Over 8,000 officials and employees will be responsible for checking around 10 to 15 schools each, focusing on aspects such as infrastructure, academic and extracurricular activities, and mid-day meal schemes.

The monitoring team will also ensure that schools provide quality education and address the needs of students. The plan is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the education system in Bihar and provide quality education to all students.

The initiative, announced by Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, Dr S. Siddharth, has seen Bihar introduce an online portal, e-Shikshakosh, where monitoring reports will be uploaded. The portal will help track the progress of schools and identify areas that require improvement.

District officials have been instructed to review and report regularly and take necessary action to address deficiencies. The government has also warned that departmental action will be taken against officials who fail to comply with the monitoring plan.

The school monitoring plan is a significant step towards improving the education sector in Bihar, which has faced challenges in recent years, department sources said.

In addition to this initiative, the government announced plans to upgrade school infrastructure, including the construction of new classrooms and toilets. The government has also launched initiatives to improve teacher training and student enrollment.
