New Delhi: The National Medical Commission(NMC) has released the Competency Based Medical Education
Guidelines, 2024 along with CBME Competencies Volume-I, II, and III. As per the detailed notice, these guidelines will supersede the earlier Guidelines issued by NMC and will be implemented from the MBBS batch of 2024-25 onwards. A total of 75 per cent attendance in the electives and submission of log book maintained during electives is required for eligibility to appear in the University MBBS examination/National Exit Test (NExT).
“Learners who do not have at least 75% attendance in the electives will not be eligible for the Third Professional – Part II examination/ NExT,” reads the NMC Competency Based Medical Education Guidelines, 2024. The proposed common exit test is likely expected to be conducted in March 2029 for the MBBS students admitted during the academic year 2024-2025.
