While most people are satisfied with an engineering degree from one of the many reputed Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and getting a job with a tech giant like Google, Microsoft, etc. Yet, there are a handful of geniuses in the world whose pursuit of knowledge is never satiated and pushes them to excellence.

One such example is our today’s JEE success story featuring Nishant Totla, an IIT Bombay alumni, who joined the premier institution by cracking the JEE entrance test, one of the toughest exams in the country which grants entry to IITs to a handful of successful aspirants.

AIR 2 in JEE, Rank 43 in AIEEE

Nishant Totla secured All India Rank 2 in the 2008 IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) amongst a pool of over 375,000 aspirants, and joined IIT Bombay where he earned a B.Tech degree in Computer Science. Nishant also secured the 43rd rank among more than 800,000 students in AIEEE 2008 exams.

Nishant, a National Gold Medalist in Chemistry Olympiad, was later awarded the Academy Excellence for the year 2008-09 by IIT Bombay.

Worked for Google, Twitter

After completing his B.Tech degree from IIT Bombay, Nishant Totla earned a degree in Mathematics and later worked as a Software Engineering Intern with Growth Tactics Engineering Team at social media giant ‘X’ (former Twitter). The engineering prodigy has contributed to the internal Scala framework for batch job processing along with dashboard and back-end design for advertising metrics of X, according to his profile.

Later he got a high-paying job as a software engineer at tech giant Google, but has since left the same to pursue a PhD at UC Berkley.

He is currently in his third year of PhD at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkley).
