Apparently, the five-hour therapy with her “sisterhood” community did wonders, as the designer was as energetic and upbeat as can be, presenting her spring collection at Milan’s Philological Circle. She ticked off color, romanticism, love, joy and beauty as the common thread linking her designs, injecting a dose of optimism to the day — cue the Milano cap, sweatshirt and t-shirt with the word “joy” spelled out across them.
Her vision was reflected in the colorful dresses with chakra, sacred geometry and spiral prints. Martin offered embroidered scallop macramé dresses, or intricately embellished with raffia flowers. Telegraphing the importance of spiritual symbols on her designs, the iris print is a symbol of positivity, hope and wisdom, she explained, and the zinnia flower pattern is said to symbolize endurance and friendship.
Martin has been growing her business steadily, and she has expanded her light knit sets, started suiting and introduced jewelry, such as the Portal necklace embedded with amethyst, jasper and malachite. Solid shirting has become key to balance the brand’s prints, she said.
