The new themes are designed to automatically switch according to the device’s settings.
New Delhi: Meta owned instant messaging service WhatsApp is reportedly creating a new feature that will allow users to customise their chat interface using themes. Android users will soon be able to select the colour of chat bubbles and backgrounds from a predefined set of themes, says a report by WABetaInfo.
The WABetaInfo report also mentions that the newest beta version of WhatsApp for Android features 11 default chat themes, allowing users to customize the look of their individual chats. These themes are designed to automatically switch according to the device’s light or dark mode settings.
In dark mode, users have the option to adjust the brightness and the colors of the background and chat bubbles to ensure an optimal viewing experience.
Choosing a theme will automatically alter the wallpaper and chat bubble colors to complement the selected style. The report states that each theme includes a palette of chat bubble colors that harmonize with the background. Nonetheless, users will have the flexibility to change the background wallpaper while retaining the chat bubble color for greater customization.
It is important to note that the chosen theme will only be visible on the account of the user who sets it, and it will not impact the other participant in the conversation.
The feature will be accessible in a specific section within the app’s settings dedicated to theme customization. The chat theme functionality is anticipated to be released for WhatsApp on Android in a forthcoming update, although its availability for iOS has not yet been confirmed.
