King Charles III and Queen Camilla will land in Australia on Friday, but it will be another three days before the public gets a first official opportunity to say “g’day” to our royal visitors.
Their Majesties will spend just five days Down Under, visiting iconic landmarks in Canberra and Sydney and smaller community events during their trip.

The pair’s engagements will “focus on themes designed to celebrate the best of Australia… as well as reflecting aspects of The King and Queen’s work”, Buckingham Palace said.
The public’s first chance to rub shoulders with the royals will be when they lay a wreath at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra from 12.35pm on Monday, October 21.
Onlookers have been told they should arrive no later than 11.45am so they are not caught out by road closures, and can allow time for security screenings.
Shortly after, at 1pm, royal supporters can watch the ceremonial welcome, where the pair will be greeted by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, at Parliament House.
They will then meet fans in the Parliament House forecourt from 2.10pm. Again, attendees should arrive early.
The royal entourage will then head to NSW, where the public has been invited to welcome the pair at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday.
The greeting will be followed by a Fleet Review and fly past from the Australian Defence Force.
The precinct will open at 3pm for a 4.20pm start.
Also on the royal itinerary is a community barbecue in Parramatta, hosted by NSW Premier Chris Minns.
“I look forward to hosting Their Majesties at the Western Sydney community BBQ to showcase this state’s rich culinary and cultural diversity, where they will also meet with a range of community organisations and outstanding Australians,” Minns said.
The King will also meet current Australians of the Year, Professor Georgina Long and Professor Richard Scolyer AO, to hear about their world-leading cancer research.
Charles will pause his own cancer treatment to make the trip.
The Queen will head to an unspecified Sydney library to meet students participating in writing workshops, esteemed authors, and recipients of the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition.
Charles, 75, has made 16 previous visits to Australia, but this will be his first as Monarch.
After leaving Australia on October 23, Charles and Camilla will visit Samoa and attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
