Raptors’ Immanuel Quickley offically ruled out vs. Hornets; Jonathan Mogbo starts

The Toronto Raptors won’t be getting any reinforcements on Wednesday with Scottie Barnes out.

Toronto announced ahead of its contest with the Charlotte Hornets that point guard Immanuel Quickley had been downgraded from doubtful to out for the game.

The Raptors will also be without Kelly Olynyk and Bruce Brown once again as they visit the Hornets.

Jonathan Mogbo will get his first NBA start, sliding into Barnes’ usual spot in the lineup. The 2024 second-rounder has averaged 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks in 14.3 minutes per game this season.

Toronto will send out Davion Mitchell, Gradey Dick, RJ Barrett and Jakob Poeltl alongside Mogbo.

Quickley, 25, suffered a pelvic injury in the team’s opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. He was undercut by Cavaliers guard Darius Garland when contesting a rebound late in the second quarter of last night’s home opener.

He averaged 18.6 points, 6.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds over 38 games for the Raptors last season after being traded from the New York Knicks on Dec. 30.

Watch the Raptors-Hornets game Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+.
