This trick uses two simple natural ingredients to freshen and deodorise clothing.
By immersing your clothes in a solution of baking soda and lemon juice, the smell of smoke will be completely eradicated.
You’ll need half a cup of baking soda and the juice of one to two lemons to make it work.
Begin by filling a large basin, sink, or bucket with cold water, which will boost the effectiveness of the baking soda and prevent a strong odour from being sealed in with warm water when the natural deodoriser is added.
Next, pour the baking soda into the water and stir well to dissolve and create a deodorising bath.
Immerse your smoky clothes in the mixture and let them soak for 90 minutes; the baking soda will absorb any remaining smoke particles.
Add the lemon juice to the mixture, mix thoroughly, and allow the lemon juice to impart a refreshing citrus scent for 30 minutes. After soaking, rinse the clothes thoroughly in cold water to remove any residue.
