Colnago Creates Luxury Apparel, Special Bike to Celebrate 70th Anniversary

Colnago, the Italian manufacturer of high-end road and racing bikes, is celebrating its 70th anniversary by creating an exclusive steel bike accompanied by a limited-edition leisurewear capsule.

The cycling brand, which counts cycling champions Eddy Merckx, Giuseppe Saronni and Tadej Pogačar among its riders, has created 70 versions of its Steelnovo bike as well as a collection of 10 garments handmade in Italy. The bike is made from steel, is equipped with Columbus tubing and Campagnolo components and uses 3D-printed lugs from Additiva, a company known in the motorsport industry for its ability to perform precision machining.

The apparel capsule includes three outerwear pieces made with Loro Piana fabric: a navy blue trenchcoat with Storm System treatment, a field jacket with Rain System treatment and a varsity jacket with Storm System treatment, all in 100 percent cashmere and embellished with the Colnago Manifesto embroidered inside the jacquard lining.

In addition to the outerwear, the collection includes a cashmere polo shirt, available in long- and short-sleeve versions, T-shirts, piqué cotton polo shirts, crewneck sweatshirts and hoodies.

The collection will be available online at Colnago’s website.

“We celebrate 70 years of innovation, victories and passion for cycling, always with an eye to the future,” said Nicola Rosin, chief executive officer of Colnago. “We are presenting a modern steel bike that takes advantage of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing for lugs. In perfect Colnago style, we never stop experimenting; thus, we have indulged in a capsule collection of clothing handmade in Italy with the highest-quality raw materials. These projects fully embody our brand: both reflect our dedication to manufacturing, attention to detail and quality materials and the Italian spirit and creativity that have always characterized Colnago.”

Prices for the apparel range from $87 for the T-shirt and $141 for the polo to $1,944 for the varsity jacket, $1,798 for the field jacket and $2,376 for the trench. The bike retails for $18,000.
