We’ve gained another celebrity Texan.
James Van Der Beek and his family are relocating to the Lone Star State from Los Angeles, the actor wrote on Instagram in a series of posts documenting the journey east.
The family arrived today after a 10-day road trip, though Van Der Beek hasn’t said which part of Texas will host them.

In his first post after arriving in Texas, Van Der Beek recounted the emotional past few months his family has faced.
“In the last ten months, we’ve had two late-term pregnancy losses, each of which put (wife Kimberly Van Der Beek) in the hospital, we spent Christmas break thinking she had a tumor (the doctor was wrong, thank god), a business colleague I hired hijacked the project and stabbed me in the back, I was prematurely booted off a reality dancing show I was favored to win in front of the whole world, and my mom died. And a shut-down,” Van Der Beek wrote.
“All of that led to some drastic changes in our lives, and dreams, and priorities… and landed us here.”

Van Der Beek starred in “Dawson’s Creek,” “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23” and the 28th season of “Dancing With the Stars,” where he placed fifth.
The couple and their five children also had some new members on the journey to Texas: Two rescue puppies they adopted in California before the big road trip.

We’ll be waiting to see if they’ve chosen Austin as their new home, joining many other celebrities such as Jared Padalecki and Joe Rogan.
But regardless, he should fit right in. Van Der Beek already played a Texan in “Varsity Blues.”
