36-Year Driving Ban Didn’t Stop Australian Man From Crashing Porsche Into Lexus Before Running From The Cops

Australia may be a gorgeous place, but it’s important to remember that everything there is trying to kill you. Including their drivers, apparently. Sydney’s 9News reports that the driver of a Porsche SUV recently blew through an intersection, T-boned a Lexus hatchback and ran from the cops before finally being arrested. Thankfully, he didn’t seriously injure anyone in the process, but it also sounds like the crash is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his problems.

9News hasn’t named the driver of what appears to be a Porsche Cayenne, but he’s reportedly 52, so we’re not talking about a reckless teen who should know better but doesn’t have a fully developed brain yet. Then again, Australia didn’t ban leaded gasoline until the 2000s, so you could also argue his brain never fully developed. Either way, as it turns out, he’d previously been banned from driving and still had another 17 years to go until he could legally get behind the wheel of a car again.

In fact, he was banned from driving all the way back in 2005 when he was just a young, naive…grown-ass man in his 30s. So in addition to the charges of speeding and not stopping for police, he’ll also be charged for driving without a license. As for the Porsche, it was reportedly uninsured, unregistered and wearing plates that actually belong to an Audi Q7. Oh, and when they caught him, they also found keys to a stolen motorcycle and another car. All together, he faces at least eight charges, although it’s also possible the cops may be able to link him to additional crimes.

As for the 66-year-old driver of what appears to be a Lexus CT200h, she went to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Still, she has to be pretty upset that the driver who hit her and ruined a perfectly good and comfortable Prius already had a 36-year driving ban.
