Google has released its second smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 2. The second-generation smartwatch of Google is its first ever smartwatch in India, as the first edition of the Google watch – Pixel Watch – never launched in India.
The Pixel 2 smartwatch looks like its predecessor, though there are some major upgrades inside, and it’s Wear OS 4.
Google Pixel Watch 2: Price, offers, availability in India
Google Pixel Watch 2 is priced at Rs 39,900. It will be available for purchase on Flipkart in India starting October 12. On purchasing the Pixel Watch 2, the customers will get 6 months of free subscription to Fitbit Premium and a month’s subscription to YouTube Premium.
Pixel Watch 2: Specifications, features, and more
The Pixel Watch 2 looks exactly like the same one, so much so that the older watch bands will still work with the newer one. Google says that the new smartwatch has a durable cover glass, and it is completely made out of recycled aluminium. Featuring a 1.2-inch circular OLED display with a resolution of 384 x 384 pixels, the watch measures 41mm.
The second-gen Pixel Watch runs on the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor, which is paired with 2GB of RAM, replacing the much older Exynos 9110 on the first one.
The battery is slightly bigger at 3060mAh, a slight increase from the 294mAh on the older smartwatch. Google promises that the device will last 24 hours even with the Always On Display mode on. Additionally, the watch can be charged quickly, with just 30 minutes on the charger providing 12 hours of usage time.
The second-gen watch comes with an updated set of sensors, featuring new and improved optical heart rate and blood-oxygen sensors. Google says that the new multi-path sensor is 40% more precise than the old single-path sensor, especially during intense physical activity, as it measures your heart rate at multiple locations on your wrist. The watch also features a Continuous Electrodermal Activity sensor to track your stress levels. Additionally, it provides a detailed sleep quality report, including measurements of your skin temperature.
Running on Wear OS 4, Google says that the Pixel Watch offers a customizable and user-friendly experience with smarter notifications. With improved accessibility and customization features, it has a faster screen reading system. Plus, the watch transfer feature allows easy data and settings transfer from previous Pixel Watches. The watch also has native Gmail and Calendar apps.
The Watch 2 offers personal safety features like fall detection, Emergency SOS, Medical ID, Emergency Sharing, and Safety Check. With Safety Check, you can set a timer for when you expect to arrive back home, and if you fail to check in, the watch shares your location with your loved ones.
Pixel Watch 2 comes in Polished Silver, Matte Black, and Champagne Gold.
