Oakland police arrested multiple suspects after an apparent police pursuit shut down roads Wednesday afternoon.

Officers from the Oakland Police Department located a vehicle at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday allegedly connected to a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, Darryl Rodgers, a spokesperson for the department, told SFGATE. The pursuit started in Oakland and continued onto Highway 24 before a vehicle crashed on the freeway at about 1 p.m., ending the vehicle pursuit, NBC Bay Area reported.

OPD tried to pull over the vehicle, which was found on the 7200 block of Fresno Street, Rodgers said. The driver allegedly sped off, and a police helicopter followed the car through the city. The vehicle then traveled on Highway 24, where it eventually “became disabled,” police said. The car’s occupants got out of the vehicle and ran from police on a nearby offramp, Rodgers said.

After searching the area, officers found the individuals and arrested them.

Drivers may experience traffic congestion as police continue to investigate the area. The Telegraph Avenue offramp was closed as of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Adib Zeid, a spokesperson for California Highway Patrol, told SFGATE. He said the pursuit was led by the Oakland Police Department but CHP officers are providing traffic control, still blocking the offramp and active on the scene.

Rodgers said the department is not able to provide any additional information about the pursuit or the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the department’s felony assault unit at 510-238-3426.
