Under Armour appoints new chief supply chain officer

U.S. sportswear company Under Armour announced the appointment of Shawn Curran to the role of chief supply chain officer, reporting to president and CEO, Stephanie Linnartz.

At the Baltimore, Maryland-headquartered company, Curran will oversee end-to-end planning and go-to-market, product sourcing, manufacturing and quality, global vendor base management, distribution & logistics, global customs and trade, warehousing and sustainability.

An apparel retail veteran, Curran joins Under Armour from Gap Inc., where he spent more than 30 years across various roles. Most recently, he served as Old Navy’s chief operating officer, after serving as chief operating officer and head of global supply chain across all seven Gap Inc. brands.

“We are so excited to welcome Shawn to Under Armour as our new chief supply chain officer,” said Under Armour president and CEO, Stephanie Linnartz.

“With over three decades of experience, Shawn is a retail industry powerhouse who comes to Under Armour at this critical time with the breadth and depth of experience that we need to optimize the backbone of our business, the supply chain, to ensure that our consumers get the right products, at the right price, at the right time.”

Curran will join Under Armour on October 16.

“It is an honor to be part of Under Armour, an iconic brand born out of a passion and maniacal focus on making innovative products that empower people to achieve their goals,” said Curran.

“I am excited to collaborate with the talented Under Armour team to enhance our supply chain ensuring our consumers get the very best experience and highest quality products.”

The appointment comes after Under Armour announced in September the appointment of designer John Varvatos to the role of chief design officer.

In its most recent trading update in August, the sportswear firm said quarterly revenue fell 2.4% to $1.32 billion, slightly ahead of analysts’ estimate of $1.30 billion.
