Visitors to this year’s Skibbereen Arts Festival, which got underway yesterday and continues until Sunday, August 4, are in for a treat for the senses with a show which brings audiences on a unique nighttime adventure.
British artist Jony Easterby’s show ‘The Garden of Shadows’ will be presented as part of the festival, and set in the surrounds of Liss Ard estate.
Organisers have billed the show as “a world where art and nature converge, as you explore a series of immersive sound and light installations set along a stunning 1km trail through the grounds”.
They say the experience celebrates “the beauty and interconnectedness of the natural world, inviting you to appreciate a deeper understanding of our ecological surroundings”.
Visitors are advised to allow at least an hour to fully experience the display, and to dress appropriately, as it takes place outdoors.
The show involves the use of smoke machines and strobe lighting.
General admission is €20, with under-16s charged €10 and smallies go free, and tickets include a shuttle bus from Market Street in Skibbereen.
The shuttle bus will leave town every 20 minutes from 9pm to 10.45pm, leaving Liss Ard every 20 minutes from 10pm to midnight, and no cars are allowed on the site.
