Add three snacks to your diet for natural energy boost, says expert

We’ve all experienced those sluggish days when our batteries are running low.

And with the darker evenings approaching, many of us are struggling to stay energised.

When fatigue sets in, it’s tempting to rely on coffee, energy drinks, or sugary treats to get a quick energy fix.

However, a health expert advises ditching the chocolate and instead incorporating three specific foods into your diet to naturally boost your energy levels, reports Surrey Live.

Llinos Connolly, from Benenden Health, warns that high-sugar foods can lead to a rapid spike in blood sugar, followed by an insulin surge and a subsequent energy crash.

“Instead, there are plenty of natural, healthier, and cheaper alternatives you may already have in the house,” they explained. “Bananas are one of the best energy boosters there are and are often regarded as a brain superfood.”

“They are packed with energy-rich carbohydrates, vitamin B6, and potassium. These ingredients help give you a natural sugar hit and replenishes your body’s electrolytes, perfect for hydration and energy.”

Llinos recommended another natural snack to add to your shopping list, stating: “Oranges are another fruit that can give you bundles of energy when you are feeling drowsy.

“They are also a great electrolyte replenisher and, of course, high in vitamin C which boosts fatigue-reducing collagen production.”

While fruit is always a good option, there’s also an affordable pantry staple that can provide you with natural energy throughout the day.

“There’s a reason that oats are touted as one of the best breakfast foods to start your day,” the expert explained.

“Packed with fibre, oats slowly release glucose into the blood stream, providing a gradual energy release through the morning.

“What’s more, your energy levels won’t spike and crash as the oats balance out your blood sugar and leaves you feeling fuller for longer.”

So, if you’re battling brain fog, feeling sluggish, or lacking focus throughout the day, then bananas, oranges, and oats are some perfect snack options to consider.
