AFL great Brendan Fevola reveals exactly how he shed 16kg in 30 days on a keto diet: ‘It’s the food I love’

AFL legend and father-of-four Brendan Fevola has revealed exactly what it took to lose 16kg in just 30 days and what a typical day on his plate looks like.

The 43-year-old was starting to feel “really heavy” six months ago and finding he was “puffing doing simple things” such as running after his five-year-old daughter, Tobi.

“It’s harder to lose weight as you get older, so I decided to give the keto diet a go and see if I could get healthier,” Fev told Best Picks.

“That’s when I jumped on the Keto.com.au 30 Day Keto Bundle. It really kick-started my weight loss journey.”

By reducing carbs and focusing on healthy fats and proteins, a keto eating plan puts your body in a natural metabolic state known as ketosis.

The ketogenic (keto) diet changes the way your body uses food.

Typically, carbohydrates provide most of the fuel your body needs.

The keto diet reduces the number of carbs you eat to teach your body to burn fat for fuel instead.

The keto.com.au brand claims to offer everything you need to lose between 6kg-8kg in four weeks.

Fev’s main gripe with other weight-loss plans was the taste of the food you are encouraged to eat, so one of the main attractions of the keto diet was that it allowed him to eat all the products he knows and loves: meat, fish and chicken.

The only products off-limits are carbohydrates such as rice and potatoes.

“The keto meals from Keto.com.au include things like cauliflower mash, which tasted great, and the portion sizes were perfect,” Fev said.

“Plus the flavours were fantastic, like butter chicken and beef stroganoff. It was easy to stick to the diet because the meals and snacks were things I genuinely enjoyed.”

During the 30 Day challenge Fev managed to shed 16kg overall.

Keto.com.au’s low-carb, high-fat eating plan is designed to shift the body into a state of ketosis, where it burns fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates.

There is also a range of keto bars and gummies to help on your wellness journey.

“The best part was that I didn’t feel hungry and I had loads of energy,” he added.

A typical day for Fev starts with the Keto Burn+ Gummies, which help with metabolism and fat burning.

For breakfast he would have a keto protein bar — either a chocolate cookie or peanut butter flavour.

“Lunch was one of the Keto Ready Meals, like green curry chicken or butter chicken, along with the Keto ACV Gummies to keep me full and control my cravings,” he said.

“For dinner, I’d have another keto meal and finish the day with the Keto Sleep+ Gummies, which improve sleep and help keep you in fat-burning mode overnight. It was really easy to follow and I never felt like I was missing out.”

That challenge wrapped up almost two months ago and Fev has continued to maintain his weight.

He uses the Keto Ready Meals as part of his daily eating now because they’re convenvient and keep him on track.

“I also cook healthy food for my other meals so it’s more about maintaining my weight now,” he explained.

“I’ve been careful with what I eat and haven’t had pasta or pizza since finishing the 30 Day Keto Plan.

“I’m planning to do the challenge again after Christmas and New Year to reset after the holidays.”

While the rest of his family doesn’t engage in a keto diet, Fev finds it doesn’t detract from meal-time — he just pops a ready meal in the microwave when they’re about to serve up.

“If you want to lose weight and get healthier, I’d definitely recommend giving keto a go,” he said.

“The Keto.com.au 30 Day Keto Bundle is a great way to start — it’s only 30 days, and you get to eat food you already love … but in a healthier way.

“It’s perfect for busy people who are struggling to fit in regular exercise too.”

Keto.com.au has reportedly helped more than 30,000 Australians lose weight and generated 422 verified five-star reviews.
