After Gresini-Marquez confirmation, outcast Di Giannantonio delivers career-best finish in MotoGP

Fabio Di Giannantonio, who learned last week that six-time premier class champion Marc Marquez will be taking his seat at Gresini Ducati in 2024, has since produced his career-best finishes in MotoGP at the Mandalika International Circuit during the Indonesian GP.
Di Giannantonio has had a long history with the outfit before he was finally signed at Gresini Racing as a rookie in MotoGP 2022 season. However, the Spaniard has struggled to make an impact in the premier class.
Before the racing weekend in Lombok, the 25-year-old had P8 to show for his best finish in MotoGP. However, with a spectacular performance as a sole representative of the team in Indonesia, Giannantonio first secured P6 in the Sprint on Saturday. That wasn’t that, he then went on to best his own performance with a career-best P4 finish in the Grand Prix of Indonesia on Sunday.

Starting from 16th, Diggia fought his way to one position shy of the rostrum, finishing behind Fabio Quartararo.
“The start went worse than expected and we lost several positions. I knew I had a good pace and a great feeling with the bike so I only thought about riding at my best, with such a long race ahead of me. I stayed focused and I was extremely quick, I was able to overtake so many that I eventually found myself in fourth place without knowing.” said Di Giannantonio.
In the meantime, Di Giannantonio will be looking to finish the 2023 season on a high note if he is to secure a seat in the premier class for the 2024 season. It is to be noted that the only vacant saddle in the premier class is a Marquez-shaped void left at Factory Honda. He has five more rounds left, and he will be hoping to finish in the top 10.
