Air India Express on Wednesday announced that it will start flights from Ghaziabad’s Hindon Airport, which will make it the only carrier which operates from two airports in the National Capital Region (NCR). 

“Besides operating over 280 flights a week from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi, AIX (Air India Express) will be operating from Hindon Airport, ensuring enhanced connectivity to/from other cities in Western UP, Uttarakhand and Haryana,” the airline said and added that Hindon’s “strategic location” within the NCR. 

Air India Express To Launch Flights To Dhaka & Kathmandu 

Air India Express will soon launch flights to Dhaka and Kathmandu as part of expanding its operations. Currently, the airline flies to 14 international destinations, including Singapore.

The airline’s Managing Director Aloke Singh on Wednesday said it will launch flights to Dhaka and Kathmandu.

On the sidelines of the CAPA India Aviation Summit 2024, he also said the carrier will start services from Hindon Airport in Uttar Pradesh.

According to a release, the airline will operate 28 weekly direct flights connecting Hindon with Bengaluru, Goa, and Kolkata. The services will commence from August 1. 

Air India In ‘Good Position’ To Retrofit 100 Planes

Air India will be retrofitting more than 100 planes, including 40 wide body planes, and has ordered around 25,000 aircraft seats as part of revamping the fleet, its chief Campbell Wilson said on Wednesday.

Emphasising that “plenty of things” are going on as part of the transformation at Air India, Wilson said the focus is on integration, growth, optimisation and customer experience.

As part of Tata Group consolidating its aviation business, AIX Connect, formerly AirAsia India, is getting merged with Air India Express and Vistara with Air India.

There is “immense flexibility” for the group whether it is full or low cost services and “we are in a good position,” the Air India CEO and MD said at the CAPA India Aviation Summit here.
