The 30-share BSE Sensex tumbled 721.75 points to 81,833.69 after a weak beginning to the trade. The NSE Nifty tanked 196.05 points to 25,083.80.
Among the 30 Sensex firms, JSW Steel, Infosys, Larsen & Toubro, State Bank of India, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharti Airtel and Axis Bank were the major laggards.
Asian Paints, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, and Hindustan Unilever were the gainers.

The brokerage, SMC Global Securities, expects the stock will see a price target of Rs. 1,259 in 8 to 10 months on a target P/BVx of 4.8x and FY25 BVPS of Rs. 262.28.

City Union Bank Ltd Share Price Target
The brokerage, SMC Global Securities, expects the stock to see a price target of Rs. 196 in 8 to 10 months on a three-year average P/BV of 1.57x and FY25 BVPS of Rs.124.91
Upside: 15 per cent
Hindustan Copper Share Price Target
One can consider buying the stock within the 330-335 range, with an upside target of 375-380 and a stop-loss below 310, according to brokerage SMC Global Securities.
UPL Ltd Share Price Target
One can consider buying the stock within the 595-600 range, with an upside target of 670-675 and a stop-loss set below 550, according to brokerage SMC Global Securities.
