‘But they’re officially an item now and seem really happy. They are both strong, independent women with a shared passion and respect of their respective careers, supporting one another from the sidelines.

‘It’s still early days for them, but they’ve met one another’s mates and everyone is super happy for them.’

MailOnline has contacted Jess and Alex’s representatives for comment.

Alex and Jess sat next to each other during day two of Wimbledon back in July and in August they were pictured enjoying a drink at the pub.

Alex hasn’t publicly confirmed if she is currently in a relationship with anyone at the moment.

Back in March, the footballer said she was ‘struggling’ to look for a partner and even took advice from Jamie Redknapp in the hope of finding her perfect match.

She explained she was ‘open’ to getting to know both men and women and ‘never closes herself off’ when it comes to dating.

After ‘struggling’ with some dating apps, Alex said her pal and former footballer Jamie told her about the app Raya, which is commonly used by celebrities.

‘For me, it’s all about connection that instant connection with someone and conversation and I’m like ‘Oh wow.’

‘I remember Jamie Redknapp telling me ‘There’s a dating app Raya…’ So I was on it but I was to scared to connect with anyone.’

The TV presenter admitted she wasn’t ready to have kids in the past but would have children by herself if she felt it was the right time.

The former Lioness previously spoke about her romance with teammate Kelly Smith in her memoir.

Alex said her fellow athlete was her ‘first love’ as she spoke of the ‘heartbreak’ that followed when they split.

Following their split, Kelly went on to marry DeAnna Dobosz in 2016, with whom she has two children.

Alex largely remained tight-lipped about her relationships in the past, though she was rumoured to be in relationship with Coronation Street’s Sam Robertson in 2020.

The footballer detailed her first date with during an interview with The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine in March 2021.

She said: ‘My one date in ages was going out with Sam [Robertson], who is lovely.

‘The next morning, our pictures were all over the press because someone in the restaurant had taken a photo. It wasn’t exactly a great start!’

Meanwhile, Jess previously spoke about ‘not putting a label’ on her sexuality in an 2015 interview with The Daily Star.

She said: ‘I’ve only ever been with one girl in my life and that’s the girl from my album [2015’s I Cry When I Laugh]

‘I’m never going to put a label on my sexuality and people should never feel uncomfortable about who they love’.

Jess said her debut album was inspired about her relationship with a girl.

She said during an interview with The Independent: ‘The songs on this album are about a girl. I would never lie about a situation I’ve been in. I feel like with the album I’m putting my cards out on the table.

‘I wouldn’t want it to be misconstrued and the fact of the matter is those songs are about a girl. I was heartbroken about a girl, it wasn’t a guy.’

Tense: Dan Walker (left) and Alex Scott (not pictured) exchanged heated words at a charity dinner on Monday after the pair were involved in a spat on social media

It comes as Alex and Dan Walker exchanged heated words at a charity dinner on Monday night following their recent X (formerly Twitter) spat triggered by Mail Sport’s revelations that the programme’s viewing figures have dropped by over a third.

Eyewitnesses at The Legends of Football dinner at the Grosvenor Hotel in London have told Mail Sport that Scott made a beeline for Walker, her predecessor as host of Football Focus, leading to a lively exchange lasting several minutes before they parted amicably with a hug.

Walker had offended Scott 10 days ago by tweeting on Saturday morning that it was ‘hard to see Football Focus struggling’ as ‘we poured everything into that show every week.

His comments followed Mail Sport’s revelations that their August viewing figures had declined dramatically from 849,000 in 2019 to 564,000 this year.

The former Arsenal and England defender responded by posting a GIF from children’s TV programme iCarly, which showed a girl looking at her computer screen before saying, ‘Interesting’.

Alex  replaced Dan after 12 years presenting Focus in 2021, a change which coincided with a decline in viewing numbers, although the drop had already begun and she is not being blamed by her BBC bosses.

In Dan’s last season before he was moved on, the average weekly August audience was 827,000, before dropping to 809,000 in 2021, 599,000 12 months later and 564,000 this year.

After Alex’s testy response on X, Dan had attempted to make the peace by replying, ‘I’m not saying you haven’t Alex.

‘It’s a saturated market and it’s hard work every week. I hope you have a good show today.’

Later in the day Alex returned to the subject after presenting the show, writing, ‘Thank you to everyone who tuned into Football Focus, your support for such an iconic show means so much to everyone who works across it.

‘Viewing figures double that of anything on TV at that time yesterday. Have a bless Sunday and see you at the Emirates you gunners.’

The pair’s conversation on Monday evening appeared to begin in a similarly feisty manner before they made peace.
