Based in London and reporting to the firm’s board, she succeeds Gabriele Maggio “who has decided to pursue other opportunities” and will exit the business next month after a transition period.

Ohayon’s most recent role was as CEO of Pronovias. But she also has plenty of wider luxury experience with a focus on the beauty sector.

She started her career in 1998 as a Retail and Event Executive at Christian Lacroix, New York. In 1999 she joined L’Oréal as Lancôme product manager in Paris, staying with the group for 18 years and  holding a variety of roles across luxury skincare, fragrances & cosmetics, working primarily in the UK. Her last position was Managing Director of the L’Oréal Luxe division for the UK and Ireland.

She left L’Oréal in 2018 to join Pronovias and “was instrumental in bringing discipline and rigour to the company” while leading a number of important acquisitions to “strengthen [its] leadership within the global luxury bridal industry”. She also secured a 10-year license agreement with Vera Wang and “skilfully steered the company through Covid”, this year managing the sale of the company to Bain Capital.

Her new employer highlighted her “strong track-record of profitable growth and business transformation” and said her “people-first leadership, and brand-building skills combined with executional excellence have been pivotal in the success of” the brands she’s previously worked for.

It added that “in her new role at Stella McCartney, she will contribute to elevating the Maison and accelerating its development, based on its longstanding commitment to sustainable fashion”.

Brand founder and creative chief Stella McCartney hailed her new CEO’s “leadership and wealth of experience across businesses and geographies”, as well as her “passion for great fashion and ethical values” that make her “a great partner in our quest to champion a sustainable way to business success.”

Meanwhile Ohayon added: “Together with Stella, we will continue to redefine the industry, championing innovation, whilst accelerating the company’s growth with a conscious approach that resonates with our values.”

Stella McCartney also thanked Gabriele Maggio for his contribution to the company over the past four years and wished him well in his future endeavours.
