Amiri announced on Friday the opening of its South Coast Plaza store, the Los Angeles-based brand’s second location in its home state of California, alongside its Rodeo Drive flagship.
Designed by creative director Mike Amiri, in partnership with American architectural design firm Two One Two Design, the new South Coast Plaza store spans 3,000 square feet, and is described by the luxury brand as “an evolution” of its first store introduced at Rodeo Drive, “uniting different creative disciplines within a single environment,” according to a press release.
Embracing Californian cool, the store boasts an iceberg-blue marble façade, with natural tones and white oak furniture and fittings contrasting with colorful onyx accents highlighting the interior. Inside, velvet, mohair and hand-woven checkered blue rugs sit alongside travertine finish white plaster walls, creating a creative backdrop for the brand’s collections and artistic collaborations.
Housing the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear alongside kidswear, footwear and accessories, the South Coast Plaza store will also exclusively stock limited-edition glitter colorways of the iconic Skel Top Low and Micro Bag MA.
Finally, like the other Amiri stores, the new boutique serves as an ‘open gallery’ to showcase art and artisans, presenting a mix of fashion and culture.
Curated objects and-selected by Mike Amiri sit alongside site-specific artwork: a custom piece from Detroit-based artist Jason Revok’s ongoing Instrument Frame Drag series is presented in dialogue with a custom, handcrafted wood wall piece by contemporary artist Oksana Schön.
Launched by Mike Amiri in 2014, Amiri today boasts several U.S. locations, as well as stores in Tokyo, Shanghai, and Dubai.
