It seems someone in Italy’s infamous Motor Valley isn’t satisfied with the current crop of V-12 engines. Our colleagues at Motor1 Italy happened upon some video footage of a new twelve-lunger being tested, but this one isn’t naturally aspirated. Nor is it a twin-turbo affair. Apparently, this one will be a quad-turbo V-12. And neither Lamborghini nor Ferrari are reportedly involved.
There isn’t much known about the engine, or the company building it. The video footage clearly shows an engine deep in development, apparently undergoing some endurance testing. The sound comes through pretty clear as a V-12, and there’s definitely no missing the whistle of big boost. While the visuals aren’t the best, note the four distinct air filters crowning the top of the engine. There’s a turbo connected to each one, apparently situated in a hot-V design.
Here’s where it gets interesting. Our Italian team heard rumors that this engine is targeting 2,000 horsepower. Moreover, it will be used in a pure combustion-powered platform. There is no hybrid connection in the works. With 2,000 hp on tap, it’s not like this engine needs any help.
As for the mad scientists behind this engine, we believe a company called Giamaro Automobili is involved. We found a website for Giamaro Automobili that is properly ambiguous, consisting solely of a 30-second video showing a crusty, rugged landscape that bursts into flames. The scenery eventually transitions to a volcano, at which point we’re promised “a formidable power is coming.” Just when you think it’s a teaser for a new Lord of the Rings sequel, we get the smoking gun pointing to Giamaro being behind this engine. A quad-turbo V-12 is specifically mentioned, along with a date of May 22, 2025.
That all seems to line up with what we see in the video. Now, we just want to know what kind of car this is going into. The last time we saw a quad-turbo V-12 was the Bugatti EB110. Could this be some kind of homage or a completely different machine entirely? Presumably we’ll find out next May, provided the project comes to fruition.
