(NewsNation) — Forward Party co-chair Andrew Yang says his organization has seen a surge in website traffic and new registrations following the 2024 election results, suggesting growing dissatisfaction with the two-party system.
“People are realizing that politics as usual is not working, that America needs a sane third party,” Yang said during a Tuesday interview on NewsNation’s “CUOMO.”
The former Democratic presidential candidate said the Democratic National Committee boxed him out of party activities and placed him on a “no-go list” after he backed Rep. Dean Phillips’ primary challenge to President Joe Biden.
He faced consequences for supporting Phillips and criticizing Biden’s age, saying he had “crossed a line” with the party establishment.
“You need look no further than our friend Dean Phillips, who made the case that there should have been a competitive primary, and they continued to malign and ostracize him, even after he was proven right,” Yang said.
Yang — who ran an unsuccessful campaign against Biden and Harris in 2020 — announced in late July that he would back the vice president in November, saying he was concerned about a potential Trump second term. He also argued at the time that the former president did not have the “character” to serve.
The entrepreneur-turned-politician also predicted some Democrats would likely break ranks to work with Republicans on border security legislation, acknowledging that “the populace has moved in a particular direction” on immigration issues.
